Spectrum Health Diversity Scholarship
This scholarship was established to encourage persons of color from Michigan to pursue and complete degrees in the health care field.
To qualify:
- Candidates must be accepted by GVSU for enrollment as an undergraduate junior or senior, second degree bachelors levels, or graduate student and admitted to one of the programs offered by The Kirkhof College of Nursing or the College of Health Professions.
*must be enrolled full or part-time - Recipients must be attending the University and pursuing a degree.
- Candidates must declare their racial.ethnic categories in their response to scholarship application form questions regarding their racial/ethnic origins and preferred racial identity. Multiracial candidates may also qualify for this scholarship. Racial/ethnic origins categories that qualify are Black/non-Hispanic, Hispanic, American Indian, and Asian and Pacific Islander.
*Candidates must have their familial or independent personal residence in the State of Michigan during the three years prior to applying to GVSU. - Must be making satisfactory academic progress
*Additional consideration will be given to students pursuing degrees in priority areas of study. Currently those areas are nursing and physician assistants.
*Financial need may be considered and shall be demonstrated by the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Renewal Criteria: Scholarships will be awarded for a maximum of 12 semesters and renewed without reapplication provided the recipients continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
This fund is in compliance with Prop 2-06 because it was established prior to its passing in 2006. At the donors wishes this fund will continue making awards as originally intended, and in return no new gifts to the fund can be accepted.
