Alena E. Zachery-Ross '95 Emerging Leaders Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to reduce the financial pressure on students and their families and make a Grand Valley education accessible to students from Ypsilanti Community Schools, Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System, Van Dyke Public Schools in Macomb County, Detroit Public Schools Community District, and Urban Schools identified by the GVSU Admissions Office. To qualify for this scholarship, recipients:

• Must be accepted for or currently enrolled at GVSU
• Must be an incoming freshman or transfer enrolled as an undergraduate
• Must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) in any course of study
• Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress standards

First preference will be given to graduates from Ypsilanti Community Schools, Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System, Van Dyke Public Schools in Macomb County, Detroit Public Schools Community District. Second preference will be given to graduates of Urban Schools identified by the GVSU Admissions Office.

Financial Need may be considered, and shall be demonstrated by the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Renewal Criteria: This scholarship may be renewed without reapplication provided the recipient continues to meet the qualifications stated above. This scholarship may be awarded to an individual for a maximum of four years (8 semesters)
