Supplemental Questions
  1. What do you intend to major in at GVSU?
  2. Please upload a personal essay (2-page limit). Include in the essay information about yourself and your educational and career goals. Do not, however merely list activities, honors and awards, since you have already done this elsewhere. Instead, help the selection committee understand and feel your uniqueness. To accomplish this, it would be a good idea to write in first person (use "I"). Try to make yourself come to life as a person, as a student, and as a future member of your chosen profession. Remember that the committee has read many applications. Your must make them understand why they should choose you for the scholarship rather than someone else whose record -- on paper at least -- might appear almost identical to yours. Your essay weighs heavily in the committee's decision.
  3. Two Letters of Recommendation from former teachers or counselors. Please make sure to contact the individuals to ensure they are willing to serve as a reference. To monitor whether your reference provider has provided the requested information, once you have specified a reference provider at least once, the “References” menu will appear in the top navigation menu. Simply navigate to that tab and you will see all references specified. “Requested” means that the reference provider has not yet supplied the requested information whereas “Submitted” means that your reference provider has completed his/her reference. By clicking “Resend”, you can remind the reference providers to complete the request.
    • Please provide a name and email address for an individual who can serve as a reference and provide a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
