Thomas A. & Cheryl L. '91,'98 Butcher Non-traditional Student Scholarship

This scholarship will assist non-traditional students who have no parental support to count toward the cost of their education and would benefit greatly from additional scholarship support. Non-traditional students include students who did not begin pursuing a bachelor’s degree immediately following high school graduation and/or may have family or work responsibilities to balance in addition to their studies at Grand Valley. To be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Recipients shall have been accepted for or currently enrolled at Grand Valley State University (GVSU).
  • They must be an undergraduate junior or senior and enrolled for 12 credit hours or more in any course of study
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of (3.0) or greater on a 4.0 scale
  • Preference will be given to non-traditional students who may be balancing work or family responsibilities in addition to pursuing a degree

Financial need may be considered, and shall be demonstrated by the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Renewal Criteria: This scholarship may be renewed without reapplication provided the recipient continues to meet the qualifications stated above. This scholarship may be awarded to an individual for a maximum of 4 semesters.
