David Daniels was a highly esteemed member of the Grand Valley State University Physical Therapy Class of 1986. On the morning of graduation on August 23, 1986 while David was participating in the Muskegon Triathlon he tragically drowned.

David is remembered as an individual who demonstrated a balanced life, placing appropriate emphases with regards to academics, athletics, personal/family relationships, personal and professional development, and spirituality. He was outgoing, but not overbearing. He could be intensely serious, but always brought a perspective and humor that was refreshing and calming. David was self-assured, but not arrogant. As an athlete, he was extremely competitive, but humble in his victories and a true sportsman in his defeats. David’s words and actions were consistent, so his peers looked to him as a model of true integrity.
