Robert and Barbara Wood
An internet in promoting access to higher education, resulting in long-term economic growth in West Michigan, drives Robert and Barbara Wood’s commitment to a scholarship in the business school. The former Chairman and C.E.O. of G&T Industries, Inc., World Resource Partners/Decorative Surfaces, Inc., Hemisphere International, and More Space Place, Inc. (Murphy Bed Centers of America), Mr. Wood was instrumental in the management of major suppliers to many important markets including business and residential furniture, marine, recreational vehicle, aircraft and commercial wall covering. Now retired, Mr. Wood was an active member of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association and served as the first associate member of its board. He is an active participant in numerous business and community affairs. He and his wife, Barbara, are pleased to provide a stepping stone to selected Grand Valley State University business students.
This scholarship is available to upper class students in the Seidman College of Business who demonstrate interest in and passion for entrepreneurship. The goal of the Seidman entrepreneurship program is to provide the opportunity for students to learn the process and tools, and to develop the skills and experiences necessary to identify and create a sustainable business opportunity. Students learn to prepare and execute a full business plan that integrates the necessary human, financial, physical, and technological resources, and to manage the entity on an ongoing basis in periods of rapid growth and competitive uncertainty.
