This endowed scholarship is being created by Raymond Bennett to honor Don Williams, Sr., Dean Emeritus for Multicultural Affairs to recognize and assist business majors at Grand Valley State University in the MBEC Multicultural Business Education programs with the cost of education.
In the early 1980’s, Don joined Grand Valley State University (GVSU) as the director of the Minority Business Education Center (MBEC) in the F.E. Seidman School of Business. In 1989, he was named GVSU Dean of Minority Affairs/Multicultural Center. During his service at GVSU, Don coordinated and developed programs to assist minority students on campus, and created a very visible and dynamic outreach to the other community organizations and activities, including development of the Minority Teacher Education Center (MTEC) and minority Science Education Center (MSEC).
Out of gratitude for the education he received at Grand Valley and in the MBEC program, Raymond created the scholarship to continue Don’s legacy of helping minority business students earn their degree and succeed.
