Paul and Dianna Johnson

Paul and Dianna Johnson

Paul and Dianna Johnson came to Grand Valley State College in 1986 when Paul came as one of the founding faculty for the School of Engineering. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and Mathematics from Houghton College, Paul taught computer technology for the USAF and the Federal Aviation Administration while serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Johnson taught mechanical engineering at Montana State University and then worked as an engineer for the Department of Energy at the Kansas City Division. Dr. Johnson’s diverse experiences have made him particularly aware of the importance of a broad liberal arts background for students studying in the science, technology, engineering, and math {STEM) fields. Dianna was instrumental in Paul choosing to come to Grand Valley and dedicates much of her time to her family, volunteering, and service to our community.
