Folds of Honor Scholarship
On the occasion of the Fallen Heroes golf outing in Summer 2007, President Thomas J. Haas announced that the University would initiate a scholarship to recognize West Michigan service members who died during active service in Afghanistan or Iraq. Specifically, the Folds of Honor Scholarship will benefit a widow or surviving child of a service person killed in the line of duty in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Honor the Badge Scholarship
On the occasion of the memorial service for fallen Walker police officer Trevor Slot October 21, 2011, President Thomas J. Haas announced that the University would initiate a scholarship to recognize Michigan police officers who died in the line of duty. Specifically, the scholarship will benefit a spouse or surviving child of a police person killed in the line of duty.

Inclusion and Equity
Established in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Division of Inclusion and Equity at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). Through collaboration, consultation, and leadership with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners, the Division of Inclusion and Equity advances GVSU"s Framework for Inclusion and Equity. The division coordinates sustainable and strategic institutional efforts to engage all members of the community while also intentionally supporting and advocating for historically underrepresented communities.

Richard Wheeler First Responder Memorial Scholarship
On the occasion of the fallen firefighter Richard Wheeler, Grand Valley alum, on August 19, 2015, President Thomas J. Haas announced that the University would initiate a scholarship in honor of the dedicated firefighter who put his life at stake for others. Specifically, the scholarship will benefit dependents of first responders who have fallen while putting their lives on the line for our communities, families and friends.
