The Tremba scholarship fund was founded in 1975 by the action of the Grand Valley geology faculty. Original contributions to the fund were made by several individual geology faculty, particularly Dr. Tremba, who was on the faculty from 1974 to 1978. After accepting a position in industry, Dr. Tremba challenged the remaining faculty to build the scholarship fund by agreeing to personally match all other faculty contributions. Dr. Tremba’s action and interest, combined with generous gifts by his family, initiated the first significant and rapid growth of the scholarship fund.
The purpose of the scholarship is to support the undergraduate education of highly qualified and professionally promising Grand Valley geology and earth science students.
