Dr. Earl Harper
The Earl Harper Management Scholarship was estblished in 1988 by Dr. Earl Harper to assist minority students studying management at Grand Valley State University. Earl joined Granf Valley State University in 1971, serving as Assistant Dean from 1971-76 in the College of Arts and Sciences. He became part of the School of Business from 1979 until his retirement in 1994, serving as Chair of the Management Department from 1979-1986 and from 1989-1992. He was an advocate for students and spent considerable time advising and counseling them on career requirements and opportunities. He was a member of many professional organizations and honor societies.
Prior to his academic career, Earl spent 25 years in production management at the Doehler-Jarvis Division of National Lead Company. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-53. Earl earned his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University after earning four degrees from Western Michigan University.
