Dorothy and Forrest Armstrong

The Graduate Teacher Certification Program (GTC) was begun in 1996 by Dorothy and Forrest Armstrong to serve students who chose a commitment to k-12 teaching at least years after having earned a baccalaureate degree. The goal is to help provide a stream of unusually mature teachers whose commitment to teaching is based in part on life experience on which they can draw in the classroom. Such students may be especially in need of financial aid, since the full-time matriculation the program requires may force most to forego undertaking other employment during their matriculation in it.

Impact

“Throughout my college career, I have supported myself financially via scholarships and loans. This scholarship will lessen the burden of the higher tuition cost for the graduate classes I will be completing. With less financial stress, I can focus more on my classes. I am so very appreciative for this scholarship! Thank you.” -Jenna Dominique, Masters
