From its inception in the spring of 1893, DeWitt Barrels was passed from father to son and operated as a sole proprietorship until 1976 when it was incorporated. Today it is run by brothers Tim, Michael & Peter DeWitt. As a member of the Reusable Industrial Packaging Association (RIPA), DeWitt Barrels is committed to improve the industry’s role in waste source reduction, recycling and responsible packaging management. DeWitt Barrels is the winner of Michigan’s Clean Corporate Citizen Award and prides itself in its continuing efforts to comply with all aspects of today’s environmental issues.
The business is determined to manage environmental, health and safety issues over which it has control and over which it has the potential for significant influence as a result of its products, activities and services. To that end, DeWitt Barrels has partnered with Grand Valley State University to offer this scholarship to students pursuing careers in the preservation and restoration of natural resources.
