Desiree A. Sanders '04 in loving memory of Amos Sanders Jr.
Established by Desiree A. Sanders ’04 in loving memory of her father Amos Sanders Jr. Amos was a licensed electrician who began his automotive career at General Motors as a skilled tradesman (Toolmaker). He worked in the Livonia and Hamtramck locations until he retired in 2006. To his family and friends he was Mr. Fix-It who you could count on if anything needed to be fixed or assembled.
Amos loved to help others and share his words of wisdom about life. To his children he was a superman and they will always remember his talks. Realistic and down to earth, he gave it to you straight, no chaser with the most colorful language ears have heard. He was loved and respected and will be remembered by friends and family as a sincere and generous man with a loving heart. Desiree is giving back to help students, out of gratitude for the support and encouragement of her father while she was earning her degree in health sciences at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). To continue his memory this scholarship will help students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their final year of studies.
