Colleagues, Students, Friends and Family of Joan Boand and Patti Irwin-Rowe
The Boand-Rowe Scholarship for Advancement of Women in Sports & Physical Activity was created as part of a celebration of 40 years of Title IX, but more so as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done relevant to equity and sport and physical activity.
This endowed scholarship has been named in honor of two extraordinary women whose leadership and passion for activities that encourage and promote the advancement and awareness of equality under Title IX has made a long-lasting impact on Grand Valley State University students, faculty and staff, as well as the community at-large. Those two women are Joan Boand, professor emeritus of physical education and Patti Irwin-Rowe, professor emeritus of movement science.
