Arend D. and Nancy Lubbers

This scholarship was created to honor retiring Grand Valley State University President Lubbers and his wife, Nancy, and was the result of an extensive fund-raising effort made among the greater constituency of the University. President Lubbers’ dream and long-term goal for the University was to create an Honors College for exceptional students. Although no such college existed at the University at the time this scholarship was created, this scholarship was intended to draw such exceptional students to the existing University Honors Program or to an Honors College, if such is eventually created.
