Alison McManus Walters

The Alison McManus Walters ‘73 Fostering Success Scholarship was established in 2016 by Alison McManus Walters ’73. Alison earned a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and German, and a teacher certificate from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in 1973. She began a fulfilling career in education and went on to earn two Master’s Degrees: one in English from Eastern Michigan University, and the other in Liberal Science from the University of Michigan. During her career, Alison educated students in the Michigan public schools of Holly, North Huron, and Bellevue. Out of gratitude for the education she received from Grand Valley, she is creating this opportunity for foster youth to fulfill their dreams of earning a degree.
